An Impressive Performance by Maranatha’s Speech & Debate Team
Maranatha’s Speech and Debate Team traveled to UC Berkeley for a competition over the winter break.
The students participated in the California Invitational hosted by the UCB Debate Society. Not only did Maranatha’s students learn a lot from competing against some of the top-ranked high school debate teams in the nation (some top 10 schools were present), but our students did incredibly well in their events.
In particular, freshmen Grace Jung and Taylor Yun, and juniors Shaurya Bhartia and Jeremy Ng ranked 16th and 17th (respectively) out of 108 teams in JV Public Forum!
Not only did the students seem to greatly enjoy the experience, but faculty advisors Israel Kolade and Shannan Smith commented that they had a great time watching our team flourish in their element!
