Celebrating Excellence: Maranatha’s 2025 Hall of Fame Induction

Last Friday evening, Maranatha High School honored five outstanding individuals whose accomplishments and character have left a lasting mark on our community.

During the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, held in the Student Center prior to the Homecoming football game, alumni, families, and current students gathered to celebrate the 2025 Hall of Fame Class: Max Blessinger ’19, Dawson Netz ’19, Devyn Netz ’20, Katie Quatro Kriteman ’98, and the late Bill Shupper.

In a meaningful addition to this year’s program, the current teams of those sports being inducted were invited to attend the ceremony for the first time. Principal Dan Newkirk reflected, “It was incredible to see how their presence in the audience gave purpose and shape to the speeches given by each inductee. Their words became targeted, encouraging, and even inspiring as they took advantage of the opportunity to speak into the lives of our student-athletes.”

The inductees shared personal reflections on how their time at Maranatha shaped their journey:

  • Max Blessinger ’19 - A record-setting baseball standout and CIF Champion, Max Blessinger ’19 helped lead the Minutemen to one of their most successful eras, still holding multiple program records for runs, hits, and stolen bases before continuing his career at the NCAA Division I level.
  • Dawson Netz ’19 -  One of Maranatha’s most dominant pitchers, Dawson Netz ’19 led the Minutemen to a CIF title while earning CIF Player of the Year honors, setting state records for consecutive scoreless innings and shutouts, and later continuing his career at the University of Arizona and with the Chicago Cubs.
  • Devyn Netz ’20 - A three-time Pasadena Star-News Player of the Year and one of the nation’s top softball recruits, Devyn Netz ’20 went on to earn All-American honors at the University of Arizona before being drafted 10th overall to play professionally with the AUSL Blaze.
  • Katie Quatro Kriteman ’98 - A four-sport standout and two-time CIF Offensive Player of the Year, Katie Quatro Kriteman ’98 led Maranatha teams to eight league championships, set enduring records in soccer and track, and continued her athletic and academic success at Westmont College, where she helped capture a national championship.
  • Bill Shupper (In Memoriam) - Remembered for his extraordinary heart for Maranatha Athletics, Bill Shupper served faithfully as a coach, volunteer, and trustee whose selfless service and lasting vision continue to shape the campus, its student-athletes, and the community he loved.

The evening was filled with heartfelt moments, shared memories, and gratitude for those who have embodied Maranatha’s mission both on and off the field. Congratulations to the 2025 Hall of Fame inductees! Your legacy continues to inspire the next generation of Minutemen.
