On October 8, Maranatha will set aside time for standardized testing for all 9th, 10th, and 11th-grade students.
Please note the following information:
Juniors will sit for the PSAT, which helps prepare for senior-year standardized testing and serves as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
9th and 10th graders will take the MAP Growth test from NWEA, as announced last March. This assessment measures achievement and growth in essential skills, giving us valuable data to refine instruction and support all students.
Quick reminders about MAP Growth:
Administered each fall and spring in both 9th and 10th grade years to chart growth over time.
Establishes a baseline in reading, language, mathematics, and science.
Adaptive: questions adjust to student responses for a precise picture of learning.
Norm-referenced: compares results to nationwide averages and similar schools.
The MAP Test does:
Provide teachers with valuable data about student strengths and growth areas.
Indicate readiness for advanced coursework.
The MAP Test does NOT:
Affect grades (scores are not entered into gradebooks).
Predict or guarantee academic potential.
How we use MAP Growth results:
Understand progress against learning targets.
Share achievement reports with families to strengthen partnership in student growth.
MAP Growth is important for your student and for us. Students are encouraged to do their best, as the test is designed to highlight what they can do.
