E-LEARNING UPDATE
May 18, 2020

Greetings to you all, at the conclusion of our Academic Year.  This is the last time I will address you regarding eLearning this school year.

First, if you are a student taking an Advanced Placement Exam this week, or a parent of an AP student, please read this very important note from AP regarding THIS WEEK’S EXAMS if you have not already done so! It involves trying to rectify submission errors.

Second, this Thursday at noon we will recognize those who earned end-of-year department awards and other honors. This will not be an actual ceremony this year, but we did want to name our winners, whose awards will come in the mail.

Third, eLearning concludes with four review days and three days of periods for finals. Please consult the schedule for details. And remember, next Monday we are off for Memorial Day!
  1. Remember that not all courses are taking a formal final during the time given.
  2. LAP students who require extra time will be accommodated by utilizing the extended break period to complete their exam. If more time is required, Mrs. Wilson-Fields will help orchestrate that with the teacher.
  3. Students presently in China will be instructed by their teacher to take the exam early (during late afternoon Beijing Time) or at another time designated by the teacher.
Fourth, a small handful of courses have summer reading requirements, which will not only be posted on myMHS and the school website, but will also be sent to students via email.

Soon, we will send out information on how students can collect items they may still have at school. Otherwise, we will be communicating with you about when and how school will be opening up again! For now, our plan is to hold to the published schedule for a mid-August start.

The success of the changes that were made to school since the middle of March is due to everyone doing their part.

Thank you,

Tim Fenderson
Academic Dean

After all the changes we made last week, we are keeping eLearning the same from here to the end of the school year. This week’s schedule is already posted, and the schedule of remaining classes for the year will follow the pattern we established on April 20.  “A Day” followed by a “B Day”.

    Dear Maranatha Community,

Welcome back to school. As we observed and discussed our previous eLearning schedule, so many of the issues that came up were directly related to the pace of the day. So, we have made some changes related to pace, in the hope that this next session of eLearning is successful for everyone. Here is a reminder of changes to our eLearning program that I announced on April 6.

    Dear Maranatha Community,

I last spoke to you at the beginning of our eLearning program. Since we wanted to limit our changes in the wake of going to eLearning, for 3 weeks we've maintained a class schedule very similar to what the students might have experienced at school. We have learned a lot in that time. We have been in constant communication with our faculty and fellow professionals. We’ve listened to your feedback, and we are very grateful for your openness in last week's survey.
