Walking in Another’s Shoes: Exploring Empathy in New Chapel Series
Will Higginbotham ‘26, Ministry Team member
As we enter into September of the 2025-26 year, the Maranatha community is going to be exploring EMPATHY in our chapels.
Described by some as "seeing yourself in the face of the other", or "when you hurt, I hurt,” our speakers will be talking about various ways to understand and live out empathy in our lives.
This past Thursday, Dr. Ketterling introduced the empathy theme and spoke about how one must “try to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes,” while also acknowledging that this is a difficult thing to do. Dr. Ketterling mentioned that every single moment, from birth to death, we learn to view the world from our own perspective.
This September, let us focus on our theme verse (Philippians 2:3-4) and set aside our selfish ambitions so that we can focus on the interests of others and connect with one another through empathy.
