Maranatha Student Wins Silver Key for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

Congratulations to Marian Seo ‘20 for being recognized in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards!
Senior Marian Seo has won a Silver Key for her artwork “Sirens” in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative high school students. The Silver Key is awarded to individuals who submitted stand-out works, that demonstrate exceptional ability, to local programs. This isn’t Marian’s first time being recognized by the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. She was also recognized last year, earning an Honorable Mention for her work on “Dreamy, Creamy Coffee.” Visual Arts Department faculty member Diane Barnhart commented, “Marian is an excellent art student - very creative and skilled. She is currently completing her second AP portfolio (she received a 5 last year) and will be starting at Azusa Pacific University (APU) in the fall to study art.”

Maranatha’s art teacher Diane Barnhart encourages more students to enter the awards contest next year. There is a $5 entry fee but it's well worth it! If you have any questions and are interested in competing for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards next year, please email Diane at d_barnhart@mhs-hs.org.
