Spiritual Life Develops Way to “Gather” for Worship During Social Distancing

The Maranatha community goes “live” every Friday on Instagram for Morning Worship.
In times of social distancing, Maranatha has found a new way to keep our community “together” in worship. Though Maranatha students, faculty, and staff are temporarily not on campus, separation won’t keep our community from experiencing worship together. Maranatha’s Theology faculty member and Chapel Advisor Greg Parker said, “In the midst of our isolation, it’s important that we continue to spend time worshipping together and refocus on what is most significant to us in order to navigate these uncertain times. Worship is a place to recognize that God is up to something. It is good to develop new ways to continue worshipping, especially during social distancing when we are unable to attend Chapel services in person with our family and friends. Holding our Morning Worship on Instagram Live keeps us connected even if we are separate from each other for the time being.”

Maranatha invites everyone to take part in this weekly worship opportunity. Morning Worship will take place every Friday at 7:30 a.m. for 20-30 minutes, just as it has all school year. Due to social distancing, we are gathering together virtually on our Spiritual Life Instagram (@MHSSpiritualLife). Reminders will be posted weekly on this Instagram account. People can simply join in, follow along, and sing at home.

Worship is an important part of the Maranatha community. Even when we are unable to gather in person, it is still important to praise, pray, reflect, and be encouraged in our faith. As we journey through the days ahead together, it is important that we help each other remain strong in our faith, find hope and courage, and keep our eyes on Jesus.
