Maranatha Students Use Engineering Skills to Support Altadena Fire Recovery

More than a year after the devastating Altadena Fire of 2025, many families in our local community are still facing the long road of rebuilding. This spring, students in Maranatha High School’s TILE Lab are stepping into that need in a meaningful and practical way.

Using their skills in 3D modeling and mechanical design, students are working to support a local family impacted by the fires. Through the creation of detailed digital pre-visualizations, they are helping explore restoration possibilities while gaining firsthand experience in how engineering and design can be used to meet real human needs.

The project is more than an academic exercise. It reflects Maranatha’s commitment to forming Students in Christ by cultivating lives marked by service, advocacy, and thoughtful innovation. As students apply what they are learning in the classroom to a real-world challenge, they are discovering how their gifts can be used to serve others and contribute to the rebuilding of their broader community.

At Maranatha, holistic education means preparing students not only for college and career, but also for lives of purpose and impact. This TILE Lab project is a powerful example of students using creativity, compassion, and technical skill to make a difference close to home.
