Return to Campus Updates

12-16-2020 update

This week the number of Covid-19 cases continues to be high. The California Department of Public Health issued guidelines for youth and adult sports on Monday, December 14. This was followed by CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) issuing guidelines for all high school sports in California on Tuesday. Both of these documents establish a timeline that has our sports teams continuing to have conditioning practices through December, with a formal decision by CIF on January 4 to determine the sports calendar at that time (moving to sport-specific practices and possible competition). During Christmas Break, we will continue to have conditioning practices as scheduled.

In preparation for the start of the Spring Semester, it is critical for all members of our community to follow the directives and recommendations of the current health order. Though we do not have a date at this time of when our campus will open, it is imperative that we take steps now to ensure that we are practicing good health protocols. These include wearing a mask, physical distancing, and washing your hands periodically throughout the day. We have planned to use the first two weeks of the semester to ensure that all who have traveled, or may have been exposed to the virus over the holidays, have time to quarantine and be tested to ensure that when we return to campus we are all Covid-free. As this situation continues to unfold, the temptation is to track down every rumor and circumstance that is circulating. My encouragement to us all is to focus on the things we can control. including who we visit, wearing a mask, physical distancing, and washing our hands. We also need to remember that our God is with us. Our school community is much more than just students, parents, teachers, and staff. We are brothers and sisters in the Lord, and God has called us to shine His light so that others may see the difference He makes in our lives. This is a great time, during a pandemic, during Advent, to comport ourselves in such a way as to point our fellow community members to Christ - He is the reason for the season!

We urge you to continue following health and safety guidelines to keep your family safe and minimize the spread of Covid-19. If you have specific questions about our school's plans or response to this pandemic, please email them to covidinfo@mhs-hs.org. We will provide another update on Wednesday, December 30, with any further information or announcements as we prepare to begin the Spring Semester on Tuesday, January 5.

Merry Christmas!
