Student-Led Service in Motion: Skate for LA

Last year, our community watched one of our own step up in a meaningful way, and this year she’s doing it again.

Kelsey Lee, a Maranatha sophomore, is co-hosting the 2nd annual Skate for LA Fundraiser alongside two of her Pasadena Figure Skating Club teammates, Ailis Hong and Carys Hong. Together, these student-athletes are turning something they love into a powerful way to serve families still recovering from the Altadena and Pasadena fires of January 2025.

The evening is designed to be fun and welcoming for all, with music, a DJ, and a few extras to make it a memorable night on the ice. Donations and proceeds will support three local organizations continuing recovery efforts for families rebuilding their lives:
  • Pasadena Educational Foundation’s Eaton Fire Response Fund
  • Eaton Fire Relief & Recovery Fund at the Pasadena Community Foundation
  • Altadena Girls

Skate for LA Fundraiser:
Saturday, March 14 | 8:00–10:00 pm
Pasadena Ice Skating Center (300 E. Green St.)
$30 admission (includes skate rental)

We are proud of Kelsey for taking initiative, leading with empathy, and showing what it looks like to live out our values in a real, practical way. Her willingness to organize, invite others in, and keep serving long after the headlines have faded is a reminder that Maranatha students are being shaped into compassionate leaders who notice needs and respond.

If you can join them on March 14, we’d love to see strong Maranatha support in the stands and on the ice. If you can’t attend, you can still help by donating through their GoFundMe page: gofund.me/9cd5ef347.
