Celebrating our Seniors When They Pick Up Their Caps & Gowns!
Next Saturday morning, May 9, our seniors will be returning to campus to pick up their cap and gown and we want to show them how much they are loved!
We’ve asked each senior to drive to campus to get their graduation cap, gown, and applicable honor cords on Saturday between 8:30-11:30 a.m. For the health and safety of all participants, we will practice proper social distancing, require face masks to be worn, and require the seniors to remain in their vehicles. But we don’t just want them to drive up, be handed a package, and leave. So, we are making this event a celebration!
We miss our seniors, we want to honor them and let them know how proud we are of all they’ve accomplished. Faculty and staff, wearing face masks and gloves, will assist with the distribution and be there to wave to our seniors and make them feel welcome. We’ll have a sweet treat for our seniors to take home, and we’ll decorate the upper parking lot to make it more festive. We’ve also encouraged our seniors to decorate their cars to announce their college or show their Maranatha spirit. Watch for photos on social media!
Some of the senior parents are making posters congratulating their student, which we’ll display around the upper parking lot for when the seniors arrive. If you, too, would like to make a sign or poster to celebrate our seniors, please drop it off at the Student Center front desk on Friday, May 8 between 8:30-3:30 p.m. and we’ll hang it up for you.
The pandemic has certainly changed our plans for how we wished to honor and celebrate our seniors as their high school years come to a close. But it does not change how much we at Maranatha love and care about our students.
