Alumni Spotlight - Michelle Washington '10
Today, Michelle Washington Roquemore '10 uses her God-given creativity as a full-time artist while raising four children alongside her husband, John, who owns and operates LA Leather Repair. During her time at Maranatha, she embraced campus life through student leadership, athletics, musicals, and artwork that is still displayed on campus.
One of Michelle's most meaningful memories is the unwavering encouragement she received from the Maranatha community. During the 2008 housing crisis, financial hardship nearly prevented her from returning for her senior year until an anonymous donor stepped forward and covered her tuition in full.
"To this day, I still don't know who did it," Michelle said. "It's been a perpetual encouragement to live a life worthy of that investment."
That experience continues to shape the way Michelle lives and serves today. She credits Maranatha with giving her the confidence to pursue new opportunities and the communication skills that have opened doors throughout her career.
"The ability to communicate, whether verbally or visually, has been my biggest asset," she shared.
Her encouragement to fellow alumni comes from Proverbs 18:16, reminding others that God has uniquely equipped each person to fulfill His purpose. She encourages fellow alumni to faithfully use the gifts God has given them, trusting Him to direct their paths.
