The Four ESOs: Who We’re Becoming

What does it mean to be a Maranatha student? Beyond academics, athletics, activities, and the many experiences that happen on campus, our Expected Student Outcomes (ESOs) describe the kind of graduates we hope to develop.

Maranatha’s four ESOs are Students of Christ, Intentional Learners, Invested Citizens, and Skilled Communicators.
  • Students of Christ are rooted in Scripture and seek to learn from Christ, serving others with humility and love.
  • Intentional Learners approach the world with curiosity, take responsibility for their learning, and pursue wisdom through a biblical worldview.
  • Skilled Communicators learn to express themselves clearly, creatively, and respectfully, and to use their voices to make a meaningful difference.
  • Invested Citizens recognize that they are part of something bigger than themselves. They value community, serve others, practice stewardship, and engage thoughtfully with the world around them.

This Year: Invested Citizens
This year, we are focusing on what it means to be an Invested Citizen, guided by our theme: “Let Us Rise Up and Build.”

Inspired by Nehemiah 2:18b, this theme reminds us that building a strong community is something we do together. Each of us has a role to play, whether that means encouraging a friend, welcoming someone new, serving others, caring for our shared spaces, or using our gifts for the good of those around us.

The four ESOs work together to shape the whole person: who we follow, how we learn, how we engage our community, and how we communicate. This year, we invite our entire Maranatha community to consider: Where can I invest, and how can I help us rise up and build together?
