03-03-2020 update

We continue to see the number of Covid-19 cases in LA County drop, which is certainly encouraging. However, LA County remains in the Purple (most restrictive) Tier at this time as we have not yet reached the threshold to re-open school for on-campus classroom instruction. Still, we remain optimistic that LA County may be moved to the Red Tier in the next few weeks.

One of the final steps in our preparation to re-open campus is to train our faculty, staff, and students in the protocols necessary for us to follow when we re-open. This week our teachers and office staff began working on-campus to acclimate to the new health and safety requirements. To acclimate our students to the protocols, next week, we will hold on-site Orientation for every student who plans to participate in Hybrid in-person instruction. Orientation will allow students to experience the new health protocols first-hand: The daily health screening, changes to how they can move about campus and between classes, protocols for break and lunchtime, and more. Students participating in Orientation will be on campus for only a half-day, either on Tuesday (3/9) or Thursday (3/11), depending on the group to which they are assigned. More information will be emailed to parents and students in the next couple of days.

As always, if you have specific questions about our school's plans or response to this pandemic, please direct them to covidinfo@mhs-hs.org. In order to be ready to safely re-open campus when allowed to do so, it is essential that each of us continue to adhere to the health and safety protocols we've shared with you weekly these past months.

Blessings,
