Maranatha’s Benefit Gala was a successful evening as the Maranatha community came together to celebrate and support Maranatha.  The sold-out event raised over $100,000 for Maranatha’s new Technology Integration Lab that will be built this summer and ready to be used by next year.  The state-of-the-art facility will house robotics, 3D printing, VR modeling, advanced graphic design, and two new computer labs.

The evening before the Academy Awards in Hollywood, 245 guests gathered at the Westin Hotel in Pasadena in their finest “Hollywood-themed” attire to walk the red carpet and to have their pictures taken by the “paparazzi”. The guests also enjoyed live music and a great dinner. In between all of this guests were bidding on items in silent and live auctions as well as a raffle, which added to the excitement and success of the evening. Maranatha Development Director Justin Coleman reflected on the night by saying, “We are sincerely grateful to the many volunteers, staff, and committee who worked tirelessly to make this a memorable evening.”  Auction items included were a signed basketball from Maranatha alumni Tyler Dorsey, who is currently playing for the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA.  Tyler Dorsey also offered to do a meet and greet with a student. Other auction items included tickets and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Tennis Channel.  Some other silent auction items were a Balboa Island vacation, a softball game at Dodger Stadium, front row seats at Maranatha graduation, and a diamond cross necklace.

Guests got excited when the live auction began with a mystery box.  Although clues were given, bidders weren’t sure what was in the box.  Later on it was revealed what the winner received.  In some of these boxes there were tickets to Disneyland, Maroon 5 concert, and an LA Kings game.  All of the proceeds from the raffle and auction went to the new Technology Integration Lab.  The Gala was a wonderful night for the community to come together and help the Maranatha education prepare students for careers of the future.
