ASL Students Learning Through Projects

Because ASL is communicated through the usage of hands, one of the first projects that Maranatha’s ASL Level 1 students were assigned was the "hand art" project. For this project, students traced their hands onto paper, then filled the silhouette with words, characteristics, and symbols that represented them best. The purpose of this project is to help students break the ice at the beginning of the school year, while enabling ASL teacher Mrs. Douglass to get to know her students better. 

The finished projects are currently displayed in the new ASL classroom for all to see. The various projects completed by ASL students at each level help the community learn common signs.
