This Week in Athletics

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL:  Our Girls’ Varsity picked up the 3-0 win against Heritage Christian on 9/27, their first Olympic League victory and are looking to finish out the season strong as they play host for their final two home games this week. Tuesday, 10/4, the girls take on the Valley Christian Lady Crusaders, and follow it up with Senior Night on Thursday, 10/6, against the Whittier Christian Heralds at 6:15 pm. Come support seniors Phoebe Lim and Jada Dixon in their final home game for the Lady Minutemen and Maranatha High School! 

 

FOOTBALL:  The Maranatha Football Program keeps the WIN train rolling with a 35-27 victory over conference opponent, Whittier Christian. The Minutemen were able to set the tone on both sides of the ball early which allowed some great opportunities for our developing players. Overall, the defense finished the night with 48 tackles, and the offense combined for 389 all-purpose yards and 5 total touchdowns (2 passing, 3 rushing). The team heads into their Homecoming game 5-0-1 as they host the Hamilton High Bobcats for the second Cottonwood League matchup this Friday, 10/7, at 7:00 pm!

GIRLS’ TENNIS:  Head Coach Arthur Hsieh and the Tennis Team have been on fire as the team picked up their 6th straight victory against Providence HS on Thursday last week. The Girls’ Tennis Team sits atop of the Olympic League standings - they have been on a tear as of late. Great job to Head Coach Arthur Hsieh and the Lady Minutemen!

 

CROSS COUNTRY:  Coach Eaton, Coach York, and the Cross Country Team hosted an awesome first league meet last Wednesday despite the 102 degree heat. Maranatha's own Chris Yun ‘23 took home first place in the Boys’ Varsity races and Lydia Thorpe ‘23 took 5th place in the Girls’ Varsity races as they both helped Maranatha compete in the League Meet.
