An Opportunity to Stamp Out Hunger

Foothill Unity Center is looking for some volunteers to make a difference on Saturday, May 14.

A local nonprofit and food pantry in Monrovia and Pasadena, Foothill Unity Center provides support services to low-income and unhoused individuals and families. On Saturday, May 14, please support your wonderful letter carriers in their National Letter Carrier "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive event! This event is the largest single-day food drive in the nation and is held annually to help keep food pantries stocked during the summer months when the kids are home from school. At the last event, Foothill Unity Center, Inc. received over 200,000 pounds of food, and had over 300 volunteers who assisted the letter carriers by unloading, sorting, and packing food at participating local post offices.

According to the organization, "This event is a great opportunity for both students and parents to volunteer and assist us. We need help with sorting the food donations we receive. Letter carriers and volunteers are crucial to achieving the work Foothill Unity Center, Inc. does in distributing this food to low-income families and the homeless population in twelve communities in the San Gabriel Valley. The five post office locations and their hours of operation for May 14th are included on our volunteer registration page. Please note that shift time slots vary for each post office location, as each operates according to the post office coordinator and site lead."

"This would be a great chance for us to support our local community and follow the call of Jesus to have a heart of service" commented Mr. Mike Mancini, Maranatha's Dean of Students. For additional details or questions, please email Mr. Mancini at m_mancini@mhs-hs.org.

Thank you, in advance, for your support and for being the heart of change in your local communities!
