Maranatha Sophomore Advances to Rotary Finals

On April 21, during spring break, sophomore Chidera Abaelu competed in the semi-final round of the Rotary Four-Way Test Speech Tournament.
Rotary’s theme this year is “Serve to Change Lives.” Chidera spoke on the topic of eating disorders and body image. She successfully demonstrated that serving those who struggle with eating disorders and body image will indeed change lives and change them for the better. Chidera proved her thesis through the Rotary Four-Way Test:  1) Is it the truth? 2) Is it fair to all concerned? 3) Will it build goodwill and better friendships? and 4) Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Her semi-final win at San Marino Community Church in front of the San Marino Rotarians and local Rotary Club representatives from the greater Los Angeles area secured her placement in the Finals on Saturday, June 25, in Palm Springs where she will compete for the grand prize of $5,000.
