Happy Mid-Autumn Festival and Chuseok

Today’s lunch hour did not look like any ordinary break at Maranatha.
The atmosphere in the Student Center was energized by the color red illuminating the cafeteria, paper lanterns, and students enjoying free tastings. Today, Maranatha’s international students provided mooncakes and rice cakes for students and staff to sample - all part of their celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival and Chuseok. Participants were also invited to decorate their own paper lantern, which symbolizes light shining on one’s path to prosperity and good fortune.

Mid-Autumn Festival and Chuseok are holidays similar to our Thanksgiving and are celebrated in many Asian countries on Sept. 21st. MHS international students and volunteers from the Korean Culture Club were thrilled to share this holiday with their fellow classmates and to see so many students participating in today’s celebration.

Today served as a reminder of the importance of embracing other cultures, while also celebrating the wonderful diversity here at Maranatha.
