Maranatha’s Virtual Benefit Surpasses Fundraising Goal!

The event included a performance by Maranatha student vocalists and instrumentalists, a beautiful testimony from alumnus Sean Poole ’06, a special message from current parents Brian and Sandy Kazarian, a fun MHS edition of “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader” with current parents as contestants and host, three opportunity drawings, an auction, a “fund-a-need” and a 3D rendering of the propped student Study Lounge.

Thanks to the generosity of Maranatha’s friends and family, the event was a great success, with net proceeds totaling in excess of $125,000. The funds raised will be used to create a student Study Center on the 2nd floor of the school’s Student Center. Currently, Maranatha has no formally designated space on campus where students can go to study quietly and without distraction. This new space will meet a timely need for a flexible, student-focused study environment. Designed to support both individual and communal learning, the center will feature an open, dynamic layout, designed with flexibility in mind, and a mix of furnishings that work for students who want to study quietly by themselves, or get a group together for a more collaborative experience. In addition to WiFi access and charging stations, separate break-out spaces will be fully integrated with audiovisual technology, available to students for digital filming, presentations, and active learning.
