Maranatha Theater Like You’ve Never Experienced Before!

Coming soon to a drive-in movie theater near you (actually Maranatha’s South Lawn), the Maranatha Theater Arts film production of “Bye Bye Birdie.”

Our students and staff are hard at work rehearsing and filming the iconic musical. The film will be shown for three nights only, March 25-27, at 8 pm as a drive-in movie on the South Lawn. “Bye Bye Birdie” is set in 1958 in a small mid-western town called Sweet Apple, Ohio, and was inspired by a real-life event that took place in 1957, when rock and roll icon, Elvis Presley, received his draft notice from the Army. In the musical, Conrad Birdie, rock superstar, is set to go to Sweet Apple on his way to induction, so that he can perform his new single, “One Last Kiss”, and bestow upon a randomly selected fan, who lives in Sweet Apple, that “one last kiss” before joining the Army.

Tickets for this movie go on sale through our online box office starting March 1, and space is very limited, so purchase yours early. The price is $20 per car. We would love to have as many people attend the showing as possible, so car-pooling is highly recommended. There will be drive-in movie snack boxes for sale at the event, so you don’t even have to bring your own popcorn.

So join us, in one of the most popular places to meet in the ’50s, the drive-in movie theater, and enjoy “Bye Bye Birdie” from the comfort of your car. Be careful not to spill our popcorn on those new vinyl seats!
