Transport into a “Seussian” World this Spring

Students are invited to audition for Maranatha’s spring production “Seussical the Musical” on November 18-20.
Maranatha’s Spring Musical is the Broadway hit, “Suessical,” based upon the stories of Dr. Suess.  Even though children will enjoy it, “Suessical” is not a children's musical. The characters, including Horton the Elephant, JoJo, and The Cat in the Hat, are amazingly complex and the story is hilarious, touching and timely. The music is some of the best ever written for Broadway, composed by the same people who wrote the music for “Ragtime.”

Auditions for the Spring Musical start today, Monday, November 18, and run through Wednesday, November 20. Callbacks will be on Thursday, November 21. The auditions will be held in room SC-201 (a.k.a. “The Fish Bowl”) from 3:15-5:45 p.m. each day. Students need to sign up for an audition on the sign-up sheet on the Music Room door. The cast will be announced and posted on Friday, November 22.

To prepare for your audition, you will need a two-minute comedic monologue that showcases your ability to become another character as well as your comedic timing. You will also need to prepare about 32 measures from a pop or worship song, or a song from a musical or film. Please pick a song that showcases your voice and bring the printed sheet music. Contact Mr. Rupp at a_rupp@mhs-hs.org for suggestions or advice.

You will also be required to learn choreography for approximately 30 seconds of music. The dance portion of the audition will include performing the choreography in small groups to the best of your ability. Please email Ms. Daniels at b_daniels@mhs-hs.org to request the YouTube link with her demonstration and dance instructions.

Come be a part of this incredible event. Being in a Maranatha musical is a great part of your high school experience.
