Return to Campus Updates

01-10-2022 update

Last week, we had our first all-school mandatory Covid testing and are now working with those who need to isolate/quarantine. We are doing all that we can to protect our school community. As we expected, the post-holiday Covid surge, particularly the highly contagious Omicron variant, has resulted in an uptick in cases on campus.

Due to the high possibility of this variant spreading on campus, over these next few weeks it is crucial that each of us is diligent in following the health protocols we've communicated to you.
  • If you are experiencing ANY symptoms, even if you think you just have a cold, do not come to campus! Stay home and get tested as soon as possible.
  • If you have tested positive for Covid, you must isolate yourself at home for a minimum of 10 days from the onset of your symptoms.
  • If anyone in your household has tested positive for Covid, please inform us promptly by emailing our Covid Exposure Management Team at covidinfo@mhs-hs.org. You are required to stay home for 5 days, even if you are not exhibiting symptoms, and must then present a negative PCR or antigen test before returning to campus. This can be an at-home test provided you take a photo of the results and email the photo to covidinfo@mhs-hs.org
  • If you are required to quarantine, please honor the request for the full duration of the isolation/quarantine period. Not doing so, puts us in jeopardy with the local health department, exposes others, and will require the school to take action.
WEEKLY COVID TESTING is mandatory for all students and staff.
  • Tests are administered by PacTox Laboratories and the results are provided to the school, so you do not need to email your PacTox test results to us. (See details at the bottom of this email if you have never registered to test with PacTox.)
  • If you have not received your test results from PacTox by Monday morning, email PacTox Support directly at support@pactox.com. If you are not experiencing symptoms, you may still come to campus. However, if you are quarantined or do not feel well, you must wait for a negative test result before coming to school.
  • Please note this revised testing schedule, going forward, to be organized by student class year:
    -  Thursday Testing - Freshman and Sophomore students
    -  Friday Testing - Junior and Senior students
  • Athletes who have a game that conflicts with this schedule and students with similar school commitments that conflict with their assigned testing day are able to test alternatively on their non-scheduled day.
Covid testing is administered from 3:00-5:00 pm in the underground parking structure (south side). Enter the testing line using the stairwell in the southwest corner of the structure (nearest the Academic Center). The car pick-up zone will use just two lanes, as we do in the morning for drop-off. Please allow extra time to pick up your student. If  testing, you may wish to coordinate the best pickup time with your student.

New protocols will be implemented in the coming weeks, and we will keep you updated as to how they impact our procedures. One change for which you should prepare is how "fully vaccinated" will be defined. To be considered fully vaccinated you must have received both initial vaccinations AND a booster shot (if you are booster eligible). We highly recommend that each student and staff member get the Covid booster as soon as possible in order to be fully vaccinated when the health protocols change.

To inform us of a new positive test result or quarantine status, please email our Covid Exposure Management Team at covidinfo@mhs-hs.org

Without a doubt, this is a challenging time for us all. More than ever, we need our school community to work together to protect the health of our students, staff, and families. I ask you to pray for the Lord's protection of our school, for His wisdom, and for His love and patience to permeate our conversations and actions as we live out each day.

May God bless us all,

John Rouse
Head of School

* DISREGARD THIS PORTION IF YOU HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED FOR TESTING WITH PACTOX

If you have not done so previously, you must register for on-campus testing using the online form HERE. (Registration is only required one time.) Each student's registration form must be completed on their behalf by their parent or legal guardian. When you arrive for testing, please be prepared to show your registration confirmation (a screen shot will suffice) when you check in at the Covid Testing table.

When filling out the on-campus Covid Testing form, enter "Maranatha High School" as the Organization Name, then complete the form using the student's information - name, date of birth, insurance (if the student is covered by health insurance), etc. Once you submit the form, you will NOT have to complete it again each subsequent week.
