Return to Campus Updates

12-31-2021 update

I hope this email finds you well and healthy! I pray that each and every one of us had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends! As we return from Christmas break to begin the second semester next week, we wanted to provide you with information to help ensure a safe and healthy return to campus life. We will continue to follow our previously established Covid protocols, approved by the Pasadena Public Health Department, when classes resume on Tuesday, January 4th. No new guidelines have been provided by PPHD, but if that should change, we will notify you.

With the increase in Covid cases, primarily due to the highly contagious Omicron variant, we all must be diligent in protecting ourselves and our community. Therefore, we want to remind you of our mandatory protocols.
  • If you are experiencing ANY symptoms, even if you think you just have a cold, do not come to campus! Stay home and get tested as soon as possible.
  • If you have tested positive for Covid, please isolate yourself at home for a minimum of 10 days from the onset of your symptoms.
  • We will resume on-campus Covid testing on Thursday and Friday, January 6 and 7. Weekly testing is mandatory for all athletes who are actively practicing or competing, and students in the performing arts program, as well as all faculty and staff, and all who are not vaccinated. Additionally, we highly recommend testing for any student who feels they may have been exposed. (Note:  If you have recently had Covid, we ask that you refrain from testing for 90 days from your positive test, per local health department protocols which govern us.)
If you have any questions regarding these protocols, or need to inform us of your test results or quarantine status, please email our Covid Exposure Management Team at covidinfo@mhs-hs.org. With your continued cooperation, together we can mitigate the risk of exposure and help ensure the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff.

As we begin a new year together, let us not only be diligent in what we can do to keep each other safe, but let us also seek the Lord in all we do, say, and plan in the coming year. School is like a living organism - we must all work together, under the Lord Jesus Christ, to set an example to the greater Pasadena area on how Christians love each other - not only in word and action, but in prayer. I look forward to greeting all of you healthy ones on Tuesday as we start the Spring Semester! I want you to be encouraged by the words of wisdom found in one of the books in the Old Testament, Proverbs 3:5-6:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Happy New Year!
