COVID-19: Coronavirus Information

April 6, 2020 Update

Dear Maranatha Community,

When we transitioned to eLearning last month, Maranatha had planned to return to campus after Easter Break, on April 20. However, due to the continued COVID-19 health threat, and in compliance with orders from state officials, re-opening our campus doesn’t seem likely this month. Therefore, when school resumes after Easter Break, we will be continuing instruction on the eLearning platform. Later today, Mr. Tim Fenderson, our Academic Dean, will be sharing with you a new schedule and other important changes.
It’s been wonderful to see the many ways people are coming together to support each other during this challenging time. Last week, Huntington Hospital asked if our school had excess supplies we could donate. Our staff and our maintenance provider, the Keith Corporation, worked together to provide 6 gallons of concentrated medical-grade disinfectant and 28 boxes of disposable gloves to the hospital. We are also currently in the process of ministering to another local hospital that asked for our help. Our TILE Lab Specialist, Mr. Miguel Almena, is using our 3D printers to create 80 protective face masks for the hospital’s nurses. These were simple ways for Maranatha to be ‘salt and light’ to our local community and to share God’s love.

So my challenge to you is this: Ask yourself, “What can I do, and how can God use me in this time to show love and compassion to those around me?” It may be something little or might be something big. However Christ calls you to serve, please remain mindful of your own health and safety, and abide by the guidelines of the “Safer At Home” Order.

Easter is such a special time for us in our faith, providing the opportunity to remember the great hope we have in Christ. He not only gave himself as a sacrifice for us, but He also rose again. As we celebrate Christ’s resurrection, let me extend to you the love of the entire Maranatha community. Our Lord lives and He is here for us, even in these difficult times.

Finally, in the great tradition of our faith, I say to you, “He is risen! He is risen indeed!”

God bless,

John Rouse
