NEW and Exciting Technology Courses to be Offered in 2017-2018
By: Dr. Rocio Watkins, Dean of Academics
We are excited to introduce new Computer Science courses as we develop our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum. This academic year, we are offering a hands-on iOS Swift programming course where students are learning how to develop iPhone and iPad applications using Swift programming language and the Xcode Integrated Development Environment. Students will create 10 apps as a culminating project and will be able to sell them in the app store.
This summer we will offer a STEM Robotics two-semester course that will use the LEGO MINDSTORMS ® NXT Video Trainer 2.0 to introduce the students to programming lessons in STEM Robotics 101, using robotics technologies, explicit math and science concepts, and the Engineering process.
In the Fall of 2017, we will begin our Computer Science curriculum with a brand new course, Intro to Computer Science, available to grades 9th -12th. This course will provide students with foundational knowledge of computer science and applications, including web design, computer programming, data modeling, and robotics.
