Swim and Track Break Spring Season Records

Congratulations to our Swim and Dive Team and Track Team for breaking records during the spring season!
The Track Team season highlights included many incredible record-breaking moments this spring. Senior Ryan Greene, who is the Olympic League Most Valuable female sprinter for the fourth year in a row, broke the girls' school record in the 100 meter with a time of 12.24. Junior Justin Fong broke the boys' school record in the 200 meter with a time of 21.24, and twin brother Brendon Fong is the Olympic League Most Valuable male sprinter this season. The Track team had 13 individuals qualify for CIF prelims and had seven individual athletes qualify for CIF Finals, with five individuals receiving medals in their events.

The Maranatha Swim and Dive Team, under the leadership of Head Coach Daniel Nahigian '08, finished an incredible season during which three school records were set! While competing at CIF in Riverside, senior Tanner Gish broke a six-year record in 50 Freestyle with a time of 21.69 seconds and placing 1
st overall in the event. Later he broke his own record set last year in the 100 Freestyle swimming it in 47.70 seconds and placing 1st overall again. Tanner also became the first individual swimmer in school history to place 1st in both of his individual races. But Tanner was not done. With the help of junior Nicolas Kohl, sophomore William Hastings, and senior Nils Heinstedt, Tanner and the 200 Freestyle Relay team broke a seven-year-old record in a time of 1:30.16 and placed 1st overall in the event. Next year, Tanner will be attending the University of Redlands and will be swimming for the Bulldogs.

Great job, Minutemen!
