Athletics Update

FOOTBALL:  Wow, what a game to witness as our Minutemen advance to the CIF-SS Semi Finals this Friday! The team took on Jurupa Valley without two of their key defensive leaders (C. Shupper and J. Neely) and ended up pulling out an overtime shootout victory 49-47. A huge THANK YOU to our Maranatha faithful for showing up and supporting this team, even on an off day. What a great response of energy from the crowd late in the 4th quarter and well into overtime! The team is set to face San Gabriel HS this Friday at 7:00 pm at the San Gabriel Matador Field. GIRLS’ TENNIS:  Congratulations to Head Coach Arthur Hsieh and the Girls Varsity Tennis TEam for advancing as far as CIF-SS Division 4 SemiFinals this year! The Lady Minutemen put out an impressive 15-4 overall record and 8-0 in league play. The team lost to Mark Keppel HS last Thursday who ended up winning the Div 4 CIF Finals. Kudos to the ladies for an impressive run this year!

 

Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball begin their seasons officially this week as the Boys’ Varsity Team will be playing in the Paul Sutton Classic, hosted at Providence HS this week, while our boys JV Team is set to play in the John Burroughs HS Tournament for the week. 

 

GIRLS’ VARSITY BASKETBALL will officially begin this Saturday, 11/19, when they travel to La Salle HS in their first preseason match up. Game time is set for 5:00 pm!

 

BOYS’ SOCCER will also be officially underway as the team will play host to North Valley Military Institute this Tuesday, 11/15, at 7:00 pm for their first official preseason game. JV and Varsity will then travel to Mark Keppel HS for preseason action on Thursday night!
