Reduced Parent Service Hours Requirement

With the campus currently closed and many events canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting “Safer At Home” Order, we are announcing changes to the Parent Service Program (PSP) requirements.
Until it is determined that it is safe for the campus to reopen, multiple school events planned for the remaining months of the school year have either been canceled or are tentative at this point. As a result, the Administration and the Parent Association have decided to reduce the number of parent service hours each family must complete for the 2019-2020 school year. Instead of 20 hours, each family is only required to have completed 15 service hours.

Additionally, if you had signed up to volunteer for an event scheduled to take place between March 14 and May 30, the Parent Association will credit you with the hours you would have served. To receive credit for your hours, your sign-up must have been done prior to the campus closure on March 14. If you have questions about receiving your credit, please email Gloria Gee at gloriagee@gmail.com

As a reminder, the Parent Service Program policy states: “If a family has not completed the required hours of service and returned the completed PSP coupon book by April 10, 2020, they will be charged $500 on their May 2020 billing statement. Families who complete their PSP hours between April 10, 2020, and May 30, 2020, and return their coupon book, will see their PSP charge reversed on their statement.”

If you have completed a minimum of 15 service hours for this year, please make sure your PSP coupon book is turned in before the April 10th deadline. You may mail your PSP coupon book to the school (169 S. Saint John Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91105 Attention: PA PSP). Please direct any questions you may have about the PSP coupon book to our Parent Association President, Heather Whyley, at heatherwhyley@gmail.com

If you need additional hours to fulfill your 15 PSP hours, you may purchase and donate Smart & Final gift cards to earn 1 PSP hour for each $10 gift card donated. Smart & Final gift cards are not available online, but can be purchased at the store itself, or through the PA’s SCRIP program in increments of $25, $50, or $100. Additionally, Starbucks gift cards, available in $10 increments, will be accepted. If you plan to donate gift cards from one of these merchants, please turn in the gift cards and the purchase receipts, along with your PSP coupon book, by the stated deadline. Information about purchasing gift cards through our SCRIP program can be viewed online HERE

We recognize that these are unprecedented times and that some families are struggling. We hope this reduction of PSP requirements enables each family to fulfill their obligation to the school. If your family is facing financial hardship due to this pandemic, please email Heather Whyley at heatherwhyley@gmail.com to discuss other available options to assist you with your service hours requirement.
