Golfers Swung Into Action to Support Maranatha Athletes

Maranatha’s Booster Club Golf Tournament raised over $20,000 to help support the school's sports programs and student-athletes.
Maranatha High School supporters took to the greens at La Cañada Country Club on Monday, October 28, to enjoy a great day of golf while raising money for the school’s athletic program during their Athletic Booster’s Golf Tournament. The event continued into the evening where the golfers and guests celebrated the 1st Annual Hall of Fame inductees at a dinner to honor members of the Maranatha community who excelled in athletics, coaching, and as dedicated volunteers. Hall of Fame Inductees included Maranatha’s Head of School, John Rouse, brothers Todd ‘77 and Tim ‘86 Worrell, Anthony Fisher ‘92, Laura Meyers Ewing ‘02, Teanna Robinson ‘09, Hannah Rae Finchamp ‘14, parent volunteers Todd and Nancy Gauntlett, Coach Chuck Weller, and Athletic Booster Club President Tom Skidmore.

The Athletic Department’s Matt Shupper said, "The golf tournament ended up being a great success, with golfers from all around our area supporting Maranatha athletics. The highlight was the evening's Hall of Fame ceremony and dinner, as everyone was moved by the amazing inductees. Their ability to bring to words their emotion, love, and appreciation of Maranatha as being a place where God shaped their lives in athletics and more was an amazing experience for all to hear."

With the help of the Booster Club, the Athletic Department, and members of their community, the funds raised at the Golf Tournament will greatly benefit Maranatha's athletic program.
