Congratulations Rose Princess Michael Wilkins ‘20

Congratulations to Maranatha senior Michael Wilkins who was selected as one of the seven 2020 Rose Princesses by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses!
This morning the Pasadena Tournament of Roses announced the seven young ladies who will represent the City of Pasadena on January 1, 2020, and one of those seven ladies is our very own Michael Wilkins! As a Maranatha student, Michael excels in many areas. She is a recipient of Speech and Debate accolades and a player on the CIF Championship winning Varsity Tennis Team. Speech and Debate Advisor Pat Mesisca ‘92 remarked, “I am so proud of Michael!  She has worked extremely hard at developing the communication skills that have helped her achieve this amazing accomplishment. I certainly wish her all the best as she experiences a great adventure in the months ahead.”

Over the next few months, the 2020 Royal Court will attend over 100 community and media functions as they serve as ambassadors for the Tournament of Roses, the City of Pasadena, and the Greater Los Angeles area. On New Year’s Day, the Rose Queen (who will be announced on October 22) and the Royal Court will be riding on the Tournament of Roses Royal Court float in the 131st Rose Parade and will also attend the 106th Rose Bowl Game.

Maranatha’s Girls’ Varsity Head Coach Arthur Hsieh shared, "It's been exciting to see Michael's spiritual, personal, and athletic growth over the years. She was very much a young kid when she first joined the team, but she came back each season having improved as a person and as a player. This honor isn't the culmination of her growth and responsibility as a blossoming woman of God, but an avenue and channel for it. We're proud of her and will be praying she stewards this honor well for His glory."

Congratulations once again to Rose Princess Michael Wilkins ‘20! Maranatha High School is proud to have you represent our community.
